The Health Industry Level 7 Interface Standard represented a partial draft of a OSI Model Level 7 Standard for electronic data exchange in health care environments, with special emphasis on hospitals. It summarizes the work of a user/vendor committee established in March 1987, on the occasion of a conference hosted by the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
