HL7 FHIR® Profile: Pharmacy; Medication, Release 2

DESCRIPTION

This FHIR Implementation Guide has been withdrawn and should not be considered for use. The Guide underwent an HL7 ballot but the comments from that ballot have not been reconciled and no further work has been done on the guide since that ballot. For more information about this Implementation Guide, please contact the HL7 Pharmacy Workgroup (see http://www.hl7.org/Special/committees/medication/leadership.cfm).

The US Meds Implementation Guide is based upon the FHIR STU3 specification. It promotes the consistent use of pharmacy FHIR resources in US Realm Electronic Health Record Systems (EHRs) to provide consumer and provider access to patient medications. The IG provides specific guidance on how to access a patients’ active and historical medications, including prescriptions, dispenses, administrations and statements. It also proposes future areas of guidance on how to create new outpatient prescriptions, record a dispensed medication, and mappings to support PDMP integration.
