UV Laboratory Report FHIR IG (Jira PSS-2414)

Basics

UV Laboratory Report FHIR IG (Jira PSS-2414)

1892
Ballot - STU to Normative

Details

The intent of this project is to develop, starting from the HL7 Europe Laboratory Report FHIR IG and other existing guides, a Universal FHIR IG for laboratory reporting.

The expectation is that this project could be realized in collaboration with the IHE PALM community, enabling both the ability to support either a document and non-document based lab reporting approach. I.e., the payload (the laboratory results) can be shared using a document format (using Bundle of type 'document' and Composition) including that payload.

Intent is to establish a universal implementation guide for laboratory reporting when using FHIR Documents minimizing unnecessary variations across realms.

We note that not all realms will require document-based reporting, yet the content (without the document format) would provide an opportunity for consistency across documents and non-document reporting.
