Phenopacket (PSS-2144)

Identification of phenotypic information for a specific patient requires significantly more investment of time from a clinician than does a simple diagnosis, but the information gained offers the potential for much more accurate treatment of that specific patient and in the long term better information for interpretation of clinical research. Ultimately this makes for more precise treatment of patients. Currently EHR systems record virtually no phenotypic information and the Vulcan objective is to find ways in which FHIR enables EHRs to be appropriately extended with phenotypic information using the Phenopacket file format.
